Comments Off on UPDATE TO THE FISHERY BYE-LAWS

At a meeting of the committee this week it was agreed to introduce the following 3 rules to further protect our fish and wildlife.

  • The largest hook size permitted at the Dell shall be size 6.
  • All ledger weights including feeders must be free running to allow them to slip off if the line breaks above them.
  • When fishing floating baits, only one rod shall be permitted to be fished by the angler.

These rules will be effective immediately and Bailiffs will be making tackle checks.

A complete list changes to the 2017 rule book can be found here.

SAFE HANDLING OF FISH

Comments Off on SAFE HANDLING OF FISH

Please take care when handling fish. We have recently lost a good size barbel and would like to remind members that when caught they should be rested in the net to recover before releasing.

All fish should be returned to the water as soon as possible, should never be held above knee height and always over a suitable unhooking mat. Always wet your unhooking mat before laying the fish down and never wrap in a towel (wet or otherwise) when unhooking.

These simple steps will help to prevent fish losses.

With effect from 4th July 2020 bivvies will be permitted at the Dell. Members will also be allowed to purchase day tickets for guests (dawn to dusk only).

Please note that all rules surrounding social distancing must continue to be adhered to.

Thank you

If you have not received your letter by the end of next week (12/06/20) please contact the Membership Secretary, Simon Davies to arrange for a replacement.

Night Fishing Update

Comments Off on Night Fishing Update

From 1st June 2020 members will be permitted to night fish the Dell with the proviso that no bivvies to be erected so as to conform to current government guidelines relating to overnight stays. Brollies with sides will be allowed and all other rules currently in place must be adhered to.

Toilet Facilities

      Comments Off on Toilet Facilities

We are now in a position to open the toilet back up but members are required to clean all surfaces with the Spray Sanitiser and Blue Paper after they have used it. A bin has been put in place for the blue paper.

DO NOT PUT BLUE PAPER DOWN THE TOILET AS YOU WILL BLOCK IT.

Please note that if members do not follow these simple rules then we will close the toilet again.

Proposal to Reopen the Dell in Light of the Covid-19 Restrictions

Comments Off on Proposal to Reopen the Dell in Light of the Covid-19 Restrictions

Although we are reopening the lake, it is up to each individual member to decide whether they are able to fish given their own personal risk factors. The fact that the lake is open for fishing does not imply that it is safe for members to do so.

Fishing will only be permitted from Dawn to Dusk

Any Member showing Covid symptoms Must Not visit the Dell

The lake will be open to Members only, no day tickets.

Members must follow Government social distancing guidelines;

  1. Remain 2 metres apart at all times unless with members of your own household. We do not intend to impose the Angling Trust Guideline of 15 metres between swims.
  2. Do not go into a peg with someone fishing for any social interaction, if you have a serious need to visit someone else’s peg please remain 2 meters away from the platform
  3. No sharing of pegs unless members are from the same household.
  4. Members must be able to fish without assistance from another member not from the same household. This is particularly relevant to disabled members who should assess their own abilities beforehand.

Members must, as far as reasonably practical, remain on their swim for the duration of their session.

  1. Members must carry a suitable alcohol based hand sanitiser and this must be used on entering/leaving the lake.
  2. The toilet facilities will not be available during this period.

Members must use their own equipment/tackle and bait only.

  1. Members are required to bring landing nets and handles to the Dell, the Society’s nets and chairs have been removed.

If you arrive at the Dell and a significant number of cars are parked in the car park, it’s worth walking around to find a peg before offloading all your equipment (we expect large numbers of people following initial lifting of the restriction).

Members must have and carry their EA Fishing License as well as their membership card.

Note that Society matches, including the Friday Night League, will not be held until Government restrictions are lifted.

Bailiffs and Committee members will be carrying out checks at intervals to ensure that these measures as being followed.

Coronavirus Update

      Comments Off on Coronavirus Update

Following the announcement by Boris Johnson tonight we are trying to understand whether fishing will be permitted from Wednesday; opinions vary at present. We will review the advice available over the next couple of days (including what additional controls we have to put in place) and will post an update by Tuesday evening.
