Fishery Rules

Précis

The following is a short reminder of Society rules that can be found in the present copy of the Society rule book. (Amended April 2022)

  • The maximum size hook that can be used at the fishery is size 6
  • Only barbless hooks to be used, no pinched barbs or micro barbs
  • The maximum breaking strain of line shall not exceed 12 lb, with a hook length breaking strain of not less than 1 lb lower than the main line
  • Braided lines, wire traces and lead core lines, are not permitted
  • All members are to have and to use an unhooking mat
  • All members are to have and to use a landing net
  • Fish must not be held more than 45 cm (18 in.) above the ground and held over an opened unhooking mat
  • All ledger weights and feeders must be free running
  • The use of floating baits fished on the surface are not permitted
  • No float fishing within 1m (3ft) of the lily pads (new rule August 2023)
  • When float fishing the distance between the water surface and the hook must be a minimum of 30 cm (12 in.) (new rule August 2023)
  • No more than two (2) rods to be used at any time
  • The use of artificial baits is not permitted
  • The use of coiled “meat screws” is not permitted
  • No live and/or dead baiting
  • The use of nuts, whether raw or cooked, is not permitted
  • The use of blood worm and joker is not permitted
  • No keep nets, carp sacks, carp tunnels or any other form of fish retention device is to be used except for Society matches
  • Glass containers with, the exception of vacuum flasks, are not permitted
  • The lighting of fires or barbecues is not permitted at the fishery.
  • No access to the Dell Island is allowed
  • Fishing outside of marked pegs is not permitted
  • No fish or plants are to be put into the Dell at any time
  • No dogs are allowed in the Dell area at any time
  • A valid society parking permit must be displayed at all times
  • Current membership and I.D. card must be carried at all times
  • All litter including any unused bait to be removed from the fishery
